It’s Hairstylist Appreciation Day! Some of you may have known this day existed, but if you didn’t, that’s okay. I have your back. If you’ve known me for some time, you know I am a licensed stylist and have been since 2011. Unfortunately, I’m not practicing right now. However, I still want to celebrate the day. Plus, I keep my license up to date because I paid good money for that joint, so I’m DEFINITELY going to continue to show love every year.
I don’t want to make this post super long. Still, I did want to show recognition for all the hardworking stylists busting their asses to make a living in this industry. This life is NO JOKE. It’s a lot of Long hours, mean clients, ungrateful coworkers, it’s hard on your body, and so much more. To be a SUCCESSFUL hairstylist, in my opinion, you have to be focused and determined. In addition to willing to take some constructive criticism and ready to learn from your mistakes. Let me tell you, though, it’s ALL WORTH IT.
When you come across those heaven-sent clients, they make the job so so worth it. For me personally, when I know, I’ve genuinely touched someone that was EVERYTHING. It could be by trusting me to bring out their features by changing their hair color, or merely switching their part. Oh, and the REACTIONS. The reactions were the BEST. Aside from the physical standpoint of it all, the opportunity to build genuine friendships and bonds with your clients is genuinely something I miss.
I met some BEAUTIFUL people during my time as a stylist, and they made ME a better person. A better stylist, listener, and friend. Shout out to all the loyal clients I had while I was in Springfield. My babies from my Nixa salon, Tiff, Onye, Crystal, Chelsey, Keyonna, I can go on and on.
So to all my DOPE stylists whether you’re new, old, or retired. HAPPY HAIRSTYLIST DAY! I hope your clients have shown some gratitude and you’re enjoying your special day, you DESERVE IT.
My stylists! What do you love MOST about being in this industry? For my Clients, what do you love MOST about your stylist? Let me know in the comments!
